How to Make a Partial Die-Cut Card with the Framed Violets Bundle
I love discovering creative ways to use dies beyond simply cutting out an image, and this partial die-cut card is a beautiful example! I created this sweet “Sending Love” card with Stampin’ Up!’s Framed Violets Bundle, using the coordinating dies to create an eye-catching floral edge.
The partial die-cutting technique allows part of the stamped violet image to remain attached to the cardstock while the other portion is cut away. The result is a delicate border of violets and leaves that extends along the side of the card and reveals a softly patterned layer underneath. It adds dimension and interest without making the card feel overly complicated.
I stamped the violets in Peaceful Pine ink and colored the leaves in Hydrangea Hue and Peaceful Pines ink. The combination feels peaceful, cheerful, and perfect for letting someone know they are in your thoughts. A few tiny butterfly embellishments add just the right amount of sparkle and whimsy.
The “Sending Love” greeting is stamped on an oval label and popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Placing the sentiment over the floral design helps connect the different layers while allowing those pretty violets to remain the star of the card. It also hides the ends of where the flowers come together.
This design would work beautifully for so many occasions. You could use it as a thinking-of-you card, friendship card, get-well card, sympathy card, or simply send it to brighten someone’s day. Change the sentiment or flower colors, and you can create an entirely different look with the same layout and technique.

Partial die-cutting may look impressive, but it is much easier once you see how the cardstock and cutting plates are arranged.
