Kindred Greetings Fun Fold Alternative Card

One of my favorite things about Paper Pumpkin is taking the pieces in the kit and asking, “What else can I make with these?” This fun fold card is a perfect example! 💙

I created this fun fold alternative card with Stampin’ Up!’s August Kindred Greetings Paper Pumpkin Kit, using the beautiful leafy image from the kit in a different way.

At first glance, it looks like a pretty layered “Hello Friend” card, but then you open it and get a fun surprise!

The front panel folds back to reveal a larger inside section, giving you extra room to decorate and add a heartfelt message. I stamped the leafy design around the edges of the inside panel and added the sweet “I’m always here for you”greeting. I love how the decorated interior becomes part of the overall card design when it is opened.

For the front, I layered the eucalyptus-style greenery over the stamped foliage and added the large “Hello” with the smaller “Friend” greeting underneath. A few Frosted Dots embellishments finish everything off and coordinate beautifully with the soft aqua tones.

Why Make a Fun Fold?

Fun folds are one of my favorite ways to turn a simple card into something extra special. You don’t necessarily need complicated measurements or lots of additional supplies. Sometimes changing where a card folds or adding an extra panel is enough to give your project a completely different look.

And Paper Pumpkin kits are wonderful for experimenting with fun folds because so many of the pieces already coordinate. You can concentrate on rearranging, layering, cutting and combining the elements in new ways.

Think Beyond the Kit Instructions!

Remember, you never have to make your Paper Pumpkin projects exactly as shown in the instructions.

You can:

• Change the card layout
• Turn the pieces into a fun fold
• Cut apart or reposition printed elements
• Add extra cardstock from your stash
• Mix and match the sentiments
• Add stamping to the inside of your card
• Use leftover kit pieces on completely new projects

I especially love carrying some of the design from the front of a card to the inside. It makes opening the card feel like another little reveal!
